Cheryl Cole is being rushed into elocution lessons with a top voice coach to prepare her voice for US television, it is being reported.
According to The Mirror, show bosses are worried that viewers in The States will not be able to understand the 27-year-old Geordie starÂ’s accent.
As a result, the Fight for this Love singer has flown to Los Angeles work with top Hollywood voice coach Bob Corff, who has worked with Sharon Osbourne and on films such as Kick Ass in the past.
A source told reporters:
"If audiences and contestants can't understand her it is actually a Âregulatory offence.
"Cheryl will be told not to use the word 'babe' to describe a pretty girl. Other key words she's being taught include a 'hard I' for words such as vitamin, saying 'pants' and not 'trousers', 'butt' not 'bum' and 'cookies' not 'biscuitsÂ’.
"They also want to clamp down on her saying 'pet' which literally means 'animal' in the States."
This trip to the US will do nothing to stop speculation that Cheryl is set to join close friend Simon Cowell on the US X Factor judging panel next month.
Cowell is thought to have offered the singer a £500,000 deal for the show, despite the fact that she is relatively unknown in the country.
