Fashionistas have flocked in their thousands to their nearest Asda George as the store's Kate Moss style dress went on sale.
The futuristic dress sent shoppers in a spin, with branches in Liverpool and Watford selling out in just two hours.
Asda's £16 budget Balmain / Kate Moss debuts the 'Star Trek' frock
Sold at a fraction of the cost of the designer outfit, at a mere £16, Asda said they were anticipating a rush on the item and expected "catfights in the aisles".
Women across the UK queued for hours in hope of grabbing the cut-price couture, which is a replica of the dress worn by Kate Moss.
The metallic mini dress was inspired by a futuristic Balmain creation which adopts 80s styling with exaggerated shoulders, as worn by the A-lister in April at the Forevermark White Light diamond launch.
Brand director at George, Fiona Lambert, said: "At a time of recession when people are finding it hard, we are seeing that people are looking back to the 80s when fashion was fun, loud and over the top.
"The exaggerated boulder shoulder is the statement of the season. It's all about super power dressing and OTT glamour."
Those unable to get their hands on the space-age limited edition frock from a store can buy one online from the George website.
The British manufactured Balmain look-a-likey dress, made of 67% viscose, 29% metal-effect fibre and 4% elastane, is available in sizes 8-20.
