The 'Back to Black' singer is being treated by doctors for nervous exhaustion after she collapsed over the festive period, it has been reported.

A combination of a chest infection and the strain of her recent arrest has proved too much for the star, and she has been ordered to rest while receiving medical attention at home.

A source close to Winehouse told the Daily Mirror: "She's been told to keep a low profile and fully recuperate. She has been feeling very ill of late and had a funny turn at home. She is quite unwell and exhausted over recent events but is soldiering on."

Winehouse, 26, was arrested on suspicion of assault after she allegedly attacked a theatre manager at a performance of Cinderella on December 19.

The troubled singer faces charges of alleged common assault and a public order offence. She is due to appear at Milton Keynes Magistrates Court on January 20 to answer the charges.
