A drone attack made by the USA has resulted in the death of Pakistan’s militant leader Mullah Nazir, officials have confirmed. The strike occurred on Wednesday night in Angoor Adda, South Waziristan, in the north-western part of Pakistan.
Based on reports, at least five other people also died, and missiles hit Mr. Nazir’s vehicle. It is thought that he led one of the militant groups that reportedly faced allegations over sending support to the Taliban.
It is understood by some that his actions in Waziristan led to peace among the countries military.
The reason for the attack could be that – based on reports – America may see Mr. Nazir as playing a part in supplying aid to Afghanistan.
US drone attacks that have been carried out in the past are believed to have killed many people including members of the Al-Qaeda regime, as well as Taliban leaders.
Mr. Nazir was thought to have been injured during a bomb attack that happened late 2012.
