A couple from Fairbanks in Alaska, Ken and Rebecca-Ellen Woods, has decided to give their Christmas tree an upgrade this year by putting it online and allowing webpage visitors to remotely control the lights.
The page became instantly popular with hundreds of people taking turn to control lights around windows, railings, and doors – even a Christmas tree in the house’s garden. Live images of the light show are also being regularly uploaded to the web.
Mr Woods, who works in the IT industry, said that he already gotten used to the constantly changing display. To allow webpage visitors remotely access their Christmas décor, he built a dedicated computer-controlled switching box that has ports for every set of lights affixed to their home.
