Hollywood star Catherine Zeta-Jones wants to play a murderess in order to show the world she is truly a great actress.
She plans to follow in the footsteps of South African beauty Charlize Theron, who in February won the Best Actress Oscar for her performance of serial killer Aileen Wuornos in "Monster"
Zeta-Jones will play Ruth Ellis, the last hanged woman in Britain, in a bid to prove she can play award-winning unglamorous roles.
"She's seeking out more meaty roles and she'd be perfect to play Ruth Ellis because she is Welsh," revealed a source close to the actress.
Mrs Michael Douglas is determined to dazzle moviegoers with her skills by playing the nightclub owner who was convicted of murdering her boyfriend in Wales in 1955.
Zeta-Jones already has experience in portraying murderesses, having won an Oscar as Best Supporting Actress for her portrayal of Velma Kelly in the 2002 musical "Chicago".
