Every linguistic student has a hard time pronouncing foreign, exotic words, even if he knows the phonetic translation. All these problems can now be solved with a single click, by going to the most comprehensive online language audio database – Forvo.com.
Forvo is the largest pronunciation website in the world – it contains almost every word out there and is continuingly increasing. In fact, you can help by contributing with your own word pronunciation that you can upload to the database. However, if you would like a certain word pronounced and you don't find on the site, you can ask for another user to pronounce it for you.
Forvo is not only an excellent tool for linguistic and foreign languages students, but also for people who plan to go on vacation to a foreign country and would like to learn the basic words before doing so. It only takes a few minutes to find and learn how the word is pronounced.
The Listen and Learn page on Forvo generates a list of random 30 words that you can listen to and learn – which can be a very fun and educational activity to do in the morning while you drink your coffee. If you like the project, you can donate or help by contributing yourself.
