Microsoft’s Xbox One console comes with great features but they aren’t free. Users will have to pay for an annual subscription to access key features, which are expected to go on sale in November. The requirement covers sharing and recording gameplay videos, finding game opponents, and making Video Skype calls.
In order to access all the features an Xbox Live Gold account which costs £40 is needed.
Meanwhile, Sony PlayStation 4 owners will also have to pay for some online services. However, Sony Computer Entertainment President confirmed that its machine would not restrict games recording and streaming features to paid subscribers. The confirmation was made through Twitter when a gaming fan asked the company president: “are the PS4 game recording and streaming features exclusive to Plus subscribers?”
Mr Yoshida simply replied: “No.”
