The Women’s World Cup final is officially the most-watched football game ever in the United States.
According to Nielsen, the Sunday’s match was seen by a record 25.4 million viewers with the number peaking at 30.9 million between 01:30 and 01;45 BST. It beats previous record set during the 2014 Brazil World Cup when 18.2 million watched to see the USA play against Portugal.
Carlio Lloyd helped US beat Japan through her incredible 13-minute hat-trick.
The Sunday’s game beat big-brand shows like Big Brother on CBS and Celebrity Family Feud on ABC.
