Toyota has once again been forced to recall millions of vehicles and this time, it was because of five separate issues. The giant carmaker is now recalling cars all over the world to replace a spiral cable attached to the driver’s side airbag.
When the steering wheel is turned, there is a possibility that the spiral cable will get damaged and as a result, the airbag will not be deployed in case of a crash.
Other issues include problems with seat rails, steering columns, windscreen wipers and a glitch with the engine starters that poses a fire risk.
Toyota, which already received two reports of fires in connection with the engine starter problem, said that it was not aware of any vehicle crashes, injuries, and fatalities caused by the new issues mentioned above.
The carmaker said that "due to inefficiencies in the design of the starter motor relays, metallic particles might accumulate on the contacts within the relay".
This isn’t the first time that the company has recalled millions of vehicles. Last year, it issued separate recalls that affected more than 2.2 million cars. In the last two and half years, the company has recalled more than 25 million vehicles damaging its reputation for making reliable and safe motors.
