What can be expected from the new Archbishop?

The Archbishop has already lent his voice to the resolution of financial difficulties.

With the new Archbishop, it is apparent that we may expect courageous leadership on behalf of the people. He recently requested the matter of reducing benefits be considered in the House of Lords before further action takes place.

 

He has turned his attention to matters of financial difficulties and how a great sector of the public may be affected by the changes. 

 

• Children—the main issue is that families who are already experiencing financial difficulties, will be carrying an even greater burden. The Archbishop has noted that these are the people who will suffer the most from economic depression and that it is unfair to burden them with further issues such as a benefits cap. 

 

• Fairness—the Archbishop did not blame the banks, but took a fairly impartial view of the situation and what banks will need to do in order to overcome their financial difficulties. 

 

• Responsibility—encouragement has been given to let the wealthier classes weather more of the economic burden instead of foisting it onto the classes who are already in need of benefits to survive. The Archbishop also declared that there is an obligation to society for those who have enough to help out those who do not. 

 

• Influence—it is clear that the Archbishop will use his influence to address injustice and other troubles that may arise in the financial arena when a portion of society is in need of assistance. It appears that the economic depression may garner a fair amount of attention from the Archbishop as the UK tries to navigate through future financial difficulties.

 

Though there may be financial difficulties ahead for everyone, it may be comforting to know that a courageous voice may lend itself towards the cause of fairness. The Archbishop was quick to declare this a time of economic depression, and to also explain that it takes a while to overcome such financial difficulties.
