A pregnant woman, who nipped out for some last minute shopping, went home with her newborn after she gave birth in front of crowds gathered to help on the pavement outside of Primark store in Birmingham.
The new mum, who was believed to have been on her own, was aided by fellow shoppers who called an ambulance.
To make her feel comfortable, Primark security and store staff brought out sheets and towels as she was giving birth. When the baby was put onto her mum’s chest, the crowd started to cheer with delight. The ambulance then arrived and took the pair to the City Hospital.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesperson has confirmed mum and daughter are now ‘doing OK’.
There are unconfirmed reports that the baby girl has been named Primarni.
