Wahoo Fitness has announced the ELEMNT Bolt, a new aerodynamic bike computer designed to help you save watts and cut your wind resistance.
While many computer training tools are available to cyclists, most are finicky and difficult to operate. Wahoo’s CEO Chip Hawkins aim to change that by providing a simpler way to track your ride. His team partnered with engineer Dimitris Katsanis of Metron Advanced Equipment to design an aerodynamic computer that improves performance on the bike. Katnasis is highly experienced in the cycling industry and has worked with clients including the British Cycling Team McLaren, the UCI and the aerospace industry.
ELEMNT Bolt has similar function as the original ELEMNT but it has a different exterior and is smaller. The computer and its mount lock together seamlessly, which helps air flow easily over its profile. It is equipped with WiFi for wireless updates and is preloaded with maps around the world.
According to the team at Wahoo, the ELEMNT Bolt reduces in drag by as much as 50per cent when compared to leading competitors in the market. This, according to the team, equates to 1.5 watts reduction.
