Walled City On Mars?

Conspiracy theories claim to have found evidence of "ancient walled cities" on Mars.

A group of UFO hunters called the United Family of Anomaly Hunters has claimed to have found evidence of “ancient walled cities” on Mars. Presenting their latest bizarre theory on a video posted on YouTube, they showed pictures of Elysium Planitia, a plain near the Martian equator, where rings and cone structures were apparently visible. 

 

The video, titled “Nasa Spots Walled Cities on Mars from MRO Satellite”, has been met with mixed reactions with some believing that the structures show signs of life. 

 

'There are structures similar to these all over certain areas in South Africa,' one user said.

 

'I firmly believe Mars still has some remnants of it's civilisation living underground,' said another.

 

The images used in the video were captured by Nasa's Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter (MRO), which has been circling the red planet since 2006. It features High Resolution Imaging Experiment camera that captures clear photos of the planet’s surface. 

 

ESA has previously released images of Elysium Planitia showing what looks like a dust-covered frozen area. Meanwhile, Nasa images show that the plain was once a highly volcanic region, which could explain why the surface appear remoulded and reshaped.
