Vernon Kay admits text affair

Shamed TV and radio presenter Vernon Kay has admitted having text-based sexual relationship with five other women.

The married 'Family Fortunes' host and father of two said: "I've let down my wife Tess. I'm an idiot. I've been stupid and daft but I'm not a sex pest."

His explicit messages were revealed after Page 3 glamour model Rhian Sugden, 23, claimed she had been exchanging raunchy messages with the Radio 1 DJ.

Kay has stated that his wife, Strictly Come Dancing host Tess, had not taken the revelations well.

He said: "Tess is extremely upset about this and we're working through it.

"But in some ways I'm glad this story has come out. It feels like a weight has been lifted from my shoulders.

"I knew it was getting silly. I'm never going to do it again and hopefully I can clear the slate clean and start again.

"I'm so sorry. I've been an idiot and I've let my family down."

Kay, 35, went on to admit that only exchanged illicit texts with "four or five girls" and that they were friends or workmates.

He said that some had sent him pictures and that he had also flirted with the women over a video internet phone service.

However, Kay, denied ever having a physical relationship with the women.

Kay has a contract with ITV for £2m. He tied the knot with ex-model Daly in September 2003 and they have two daughters together, Phoebe, five, and eight-month-old Amber.
