UK Border Agency’s backlog continues to build up. Currently, there are still 120,000 outstanding visa applications that are more unlikely to be processed at the end of this month as opposed to what Immigration Minister Mark Harper claims. Because of this, about 50,000 visa applications will be dealt with anytime soon.
UKBA has admitted that it had moved the goal posts and that it now focuses on preventing build-up of a new backlog rather than clearing the old one. The full extent of the UKBA’s incompetence is unbelievable and it may be shut down by Home Secretary Theresa May due to epic failure.
Result of the organisation’s failure is influx of illegal immigrants in the country that stretches the social services. With huge backlog in cases, matters risk can be expected to worsen.
Currently, there are several laws favouring the immigrants and there are plenty of loopholes that these people can take advantage of. In addition, there are several firms fighting for them. That is why it is no wonder that very few people are deported.
Some people believe that the only solution to this problem is to prevent migrants to come in the country however, this will not address the looming influx of migrants from within the EU.
So, is it the right time for our government to just say no?
