1. Advice your insurer of any existing medical condition. Most travel insurance cover cost for medical expenses while you’re travelling. However, if you did not advice your insurer about your existing medical condition, they can easily deny your claim.
2. Ask questions before you take your travel insurance. It’s always a good idea to ask questions when you’re buying something. Ask your insurer about the limitations of your policy, if you can renew it should you extend your holiday, the procedure when making a claim, etc.
3. Shop and compare. You should never just ask one insurer for a quote. In order to ensure that you’re going to get the best-priced travel insurance, you must contact all the insurers to compare, not just their coverage but their prices as well.
4. Cheapest are not always the best. This applies to travel insurance. You don’t want to get the cheapest one if it will not provide the kind of coverage that you need.
5. Know how to get discounts. There are so many ways on how you can lower your premiums. For example, if you are travelling with your family, you can get a family plan instead of getting one policy for each individual.
6. Know the policy about cancellation. You would want to know if you can cancel your policy should you cancel your holiday. Most insurers will give you full refund within 14 days of booking for any reason.
7. Review your policy. Take the time to read and understand your policy. If something doesn’t sound right, make sure to contact your insurer right away.
