The Kinks frontman, Ray Davies, is mourning as two of his sisters died just within three weeks of each other, it has now been revealed.
His sister Rosie, who was the subject of one of the band’s hits, died just weeks after the singer missed his induction into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in New York after the death of his sister Joyce, it has now been revealed.
On the Lola and You Really Got Me singer/songwriter's Facebook page it read: 'Ray has sadly just lost his sister Rosie yesterday. Our thoughts are with him and his family.'
The Express has quoted a friend who saw Ray near his home in Highgate, north London as saying: 'Ray looked very frail and weak. He is clearly devastated by these tragedies so close together.'
Last month, Waterloo Sunset legend Ray gave an acceptance speech via videolink at the induction, saying: 'I am profoundly honoured and disappointed not to have been at the event but I felt it necessary to be with my family at this sad time of my sister’s funeral.'
The Kinks was one of the most revered rock groups of their generation, standing shoulder to shoulder with other Brit invasion acts such as The Beatles, The Who, The Rolling Stones and Cream, but in-fighting between Ray and brother Dave Davies saw the band's output diminish.
