Google has unveiled Android Wear – a product that realizes the company’s goal to bring Android operating systems to a variety of wearable devices. Starting with watches, the smart device is designed to help users get more information. The smart watches will allow users to control other Android devices and also run apps from the Android catalogue.
On Tuesday, Google made the announcement through its official blog. It reads: "We’ve barely scratched the surface of what’s possible with mobile technology. That’s why we’re so excited about wearables."
Google’s commercial for the wear was made available online showing how the Android watch would perform tasks like marking routes on Google maps, providing updates and sports scores, and identifying songs.
The Android watch can easily be activated through voice command and all it takes is for users to say “OK Google.”
Google's developer preview gives a closer look at how Android will actually operate on a smart watch, showing screen transitions and speech-to-text messages.
