Tim Peake has made a history for becoming the first British astronaut to check in at the International Space Station.
"Major Tim" docked nine minutes later than scheduled and arrived safely after a six-and-half-hour flight. He has since sent his
love to his two sons, four-year-old Oliver and six-year-old Thomas, as well as to his wife, Rebecca.
He said that it had been "a great first day at the office" and had told his wife that the views up there "had been spectacular."
And Rebecca told him: “Your launch was well celebrated by everyone. We love you.”
Talking about the perfect launch, Tim's father said: “We’re absolutely ecstatic."
“I mean that must have been the most perfect lift-off - the weather, the view, the sky and then the condensation cloud – it was
just magical.
“I’m very, very proud and humbled that our son is up there representing Great Britain. It’s wonderful.”
Mrs Peake added that it was a “very emotional” moment.
She said: “It’s been such a long time and he’s wanted it for such a long time and finally it’s here - we’ve done it.”
