The country’s beautiful and relaxing setting is seen as the major factor why people there always have smiles on their faces. It is the home to some of the most beautiful volcanoes, beaches, and rainforests. It also boasts wonderful weather all year round.
2. Norway – Citizens in this Scandinavian country are extremely happy as they have the second highest level of satisfaction with their standard of living. Meanwhile 95per cent said that they are happy having a freedom to choose the direction of their lives; 74per cent said that other people can be trusted.
3. Denmark – This country supports the basic unit of the society – the family - by offering plenty of incentives for parents to file for leave from work to spend with their loved ones. Danish citizens’ basic rights include top notch health care and gender equality is prioritized.
4. Vietnam – According to the study, Vietnam is the happiest country in Asia. A resilient and growing nation, the Vietnamese appreciate what they have which leads to a high satisfaction level when coupled with the beautiful surroundings.
5. Canada – According to Forbes, Canada ranks first in personal freedom and third in education in the world. Citizens are happy because of high average income, long life expectancy, and robust social ties.
6. Colombia – This country ranks number one when it comes to the number of national holidays and time off. Famous for its delicious coffee, Colombia also boasts striking ecosystems bolstered by its various rainforest, steppe, savannas, deserts, and mountain climates.
7. The Netherlands – Dutch people say that they are some of the world’s happiest because of good work-life balance in their country and due to the strong job market.
8. Belize – Citizens in this country have so much to be thankful for with factors including the perfect climate, a relaxed Caribbean lifestyle, and the largest barrier reef in the world.
9. Sweden – This country is the perfect place to start a business as startup costs are typically very low. People here are always happy because of high level of interpersonal trust and also due to its freely individualistic social culture.
10. El Salvador – The majority of citizens in this country are content with what they have. They are happy because of friendly neighbours, hearty comfort food, and under-the-radar beaches.
