The top 10 most streamed songs and artists of all time revealed

The Official Charts Company revealed that Bastille’s Pompeii is UK’s most streamed song of all time.

The Official Charts Company has revealed the most streamed songs and artists of all time in the United Kingdom following confirmation that on-demand audio streams will be counted towards the Official Single Chart for the first time next month. 

 

Pompeii by the band Bastille, which racked up 26.6 million streams within thepast two years, has been hailed as the most-streamed track of all time in the UK. It is followed by Daft Punk’s Get Lucky (24.5million streams) and Passenger’s Let Her Go (21.7million streams). 

 

“The fact Pompeii has had over 26 million streams is amazing," said Bastille frontman Dan Smith. “We’re really, really happy.

 

“When we made Pompeii we never even saw ourselves as a band that would be even remotely mainstream or anything like that. We thought, hopefully some people will like the song; maybe we’ll sell enough albums to be able to make a second album and not be jobless so soon after we quit our jobs in the first place.

 

“Everything that’s happened with Pompeii has completely blown our minds and the fact that we’re still doing this is as a job, the fact we get to travel round the world and go to different countries off the back of the album is insane and we just feel really lucky and glad that people stream too because streaming important.”

 

Meanwhile, the most streamed act of all is rock band The Arctic Monkeys with 103.3million streams. This is followed by Eminem (94.1million streams) and Rihanna (87.8 million streams).
