Tidworth in Wiltshire has been chosen as the most desirable place in Britain for jobs, crime rates, housing, school and health.
The small town, with the postcode of SP9, sits on the edge of Salisbury Plain and it was voted as the best place in the nation to raise a family.
In second place was Yateley in Hampshire with the postcode GU46 followed by CA27’s seaside resort St Bees, Cumbria.
They were ranked by the Centre for Economics and Business Research in the study marking 40 years of Britain’s 1.8 million postcodes.
Royal Mail spokesman Steve Rooney said: “The invention of the postcode revolutionised the way post is sorted and delivered.
“The postcode is now used by businesses and individuals, whether verifying an address when making a transaction or planning a route on a Sat Nav system.”
