Reports have revealed that Katie Holmes decided to put an end to her marriage to Tom Cruise after the latter planned to send their six-year-old daughter Suri to a hardcore Scientology organisation called Sea Organisation. This is an association of Scientologists that L. Ron Hubbard, founder of Scientology, established in 1968. Children of Scientologists are usually sent there even at age 5 to immerse them fully into the religion.
Sea Org has raised concerns among even ex-Scientologists, including Paul Haggis, mainly because of its military-like regulations. Cruise, however, is said to be a big fan of the program, which is taught on The Freewinds, the same Scientology boat where Cruise held his birthday party in 2004.
There have been reports that the famous Hollywood couple had been fighting about Suri’s involvement in Scientology. And now, with threats of Suri being entered into a program where members are asked to sign a one-billion-year pledge to the religion, it seems like Katie was compelled to use her last and final card. This also explains why she is now seeking sole legal custody of Suri as part of the grounds of the divorce. This decision makes it clear that Katie does not want her daughter dragged into Scientology.
Now, Katie has reportedly called the New York police to her apartment after seeing a black Mercedes SUV parked outside their door. According to her, the two men inside were not paparazzi, as they did not have cameras, but were in fact Scientology operatives. This may be consistent with comments from former Scientology members that the religion intimidates its former members.
