Being presented with hash reality all the time sucks and this could be the very reason why people shun away from reading and hearing news that is generally bad and irrelevant or even reading redundant articles regardless of the good and relevant message it aims to impart.
However, some people are so gifted that they are able present reality in a different sort of way, in a funny sort of way, actually. Suddenly, you realize OMG, that is so true, yet it does not hurt as much and actually makes you think. Accolades to Mr. Matthew Inman for bringing us, (drum roll, please) The Oatmeal.com.
The Oatmeal has captured the interest of millions of netizens, getting almost a billion of page views with its keen observation of life’s absurdities presented through humorous comic illustrations and ironic but amusing annotations and, yes, quizzes to test your physical and mental state.
One can just wonder how a site that promotes seemingly illogical and unreal concepts and scenarios can be embraced and followed by so many people. No matter how absurd it may seem, just tell me if you can resist the quiz to find out how many tape worms can survive in your body or how much germs are lodged in your cell phone. Well, I can’t and I did take the quiz.
Life is too short to be dealt with always seriously. Sometimes you have to be able to laugh and accept the silly side of you. So if you have not smiled in a long time, we prescribe you to take The Oatmeal and have a good laugh in the process.
