Beyonc made her Glastonbury debut last night as she brought the three-day festival to a close.

The US singer, who was the first woman to headline the festival in 20 years, had faced criticism from some, who believed that Beyonc was 'too mainstream' for Glastonbury.

However, the 29-year-old silenced her critics, delivering a flawless 90-minute set and receiving a great reception from the 175,000 strong crowd.

She performed all of her biggest hits and also treated the crowd to a medley of Destiny's Child songs.

The star arrived on stage to a burst of fireworks and opened with her number one smash, Crazy in Love, telling the audience afterwards:

"I want you all to know right now you're witnessing my dream."

As well as performing all her signature songs, including Halo, If I Were a Boy and Single Ladies, Beyonc also paid homage to several other artists, with her own versions of the Eurythemics' Sweet Dreams and Kings of Leon's Sex on Fire.

Beyonc, who is married to rap superstar Jay-Z, told the BBC after her set:

"This night was a dream. I felt like a rock star, and the crowd, they looked like rock stars, and I'm just so honoured, really. This is... the highlight of my career.

"Everyone gave me so much love and I will never, ever, ever forget this night."

Beyonc's new album, 4, goes on sale this week.
