On November 25th, Evening Standard Theater Awards was held at the Savory hotel in London for the annual awarding ceremony. Several men and women, who are considered the best in the industry, went home with prized awards.
Nick Payne won the best play for his ‘Constellation’ which was about a couple’s relationship in a series of alternative universes. To date, he is the youngest playwright to win the award.
Simon Russell Beale was once again named the best actor. This time for this role as Stalin in black comedy ‘Collaborations’ at the National Theater. It is vbelieved that this is his fourth best actor award.
Hattie Morahan was named as the best actress for portraying trapped housewife Nora in ‘A Doll’s House’ at the Young Vic, written by Henrik Ibsen.
Danny Boyle and his creative team were given Beyond Theatre Award for their London 2012 Opening Ceremony.
Judi Dench was also honoured for her contribution to the world theatre.
Red Velvet creator Lolita Chakrabarti was awarded Most Promising Playwright for her first play. Adrian Lester, Lolita’s husband, starred in the said play.
