Shania Twain’s message to former BFF who ruined her previous marriage: 'I wish I’d never met you.'

Seven years ago, Shania Twain’s then-husband Robert 'Mutt' Lange left her for the singer’s longtime secretary and best friend, Marie-Anne Thiebaud. During the singer’s appearance on the Wednesday night’s episode of Watch What Happens Live, she addressed her messy split with her ex. 

 

The Canadian country singer said that her only message to the woman who ruined her previous marriage is “I wish I’d never met you.”

 

She also gave details about the first and only encounter with Marie-Anne after the incident. 

 

'You know, you panic in those situations. I didn't know what to do.’

 

'I think there are just some people in life you would say, "I wish I hadn't met this person or I would have been better off not ever knowing that person." 

 

'But I can't say I would be better off because I think I learned a lot from all of that. I don't regret it.'

 

Shania and Mutt divorced after 14 years of marriage in 2008, leaving the That Don’t Impress Me Much singer devastated. Ironically, she found happiness with Marie-Anne’s former husband, Frederic Thiebaud, who she married in 2011.
