The ex-BBC Radio One producer Ted Beston, aged 76, was taken in by police early on Wednesdayas the investigations into the Jimmy Savile case continues. As part of Operation Yewtree, which is an inquiry looking into sex abuse allegations, Mr. Beston is now the latest individual to be questioned.
It is believed that police who are part of the Scotland Yard inquiry searched the ex-BBC employee’s house.
Mr. Beston, who worked with Jimmy Savile during the 60s and 70s, was also known as ‘Uncle Ted’.
Other individuals who have been investigated by Detectives over alleged sex offences include Max Clifford, Gary Glitter and comedian Freddie Starr. Both have denied any allegations.
Mr. Beston was bailed and is expected to return for further questioning early 2013.
The late Jimmy Savile died at the age of 84-years-old. He was a former Radio One DJ as well as the host for Jim’ll fix It.
