Professional writer, photographer, and lecturer Grant Scott explains how you can be more creative to capture better photos using the camera that comes with your smartphone. He said that it can teach you a thing or two about the building blocks of visual creativity such as light, texture, form, composition, and juxtaposition.
He then explained that the foundation of a good photograph is called “photosketching.” Instead of worrying about how the photographs will look like, he suggests utilizing the concept of photosketching that makes the process of taking photos more fun. He added that in order to achieve the goal, one must not worry about the mechanics of photography and should focus solely on aesthetics.
Photosketching encourages having fun, taking risks, and doing experiments as well as being instinctive and not cerebral. One good way to start photosketching is to take a walk and look for anything that is eye-catching. Then, take pictures without worrying about how it would look like and continue walking. You can then review the images you’ve taken at the end of the day and analyse what makes each beautiful and appealing. Doing this on a regular basis will help you figure out what works and what doesn’t until you learn how to take the perfect picture while keeping all the important elements in mind.
