Currently, there are 15 million patients in the United Kingdom that are affected by long term health conditions such as depression, dementia, and cancer. This when combined with the ageing population, cost NHS billions of dollars per year.
Aside from adding new facilities and hiring more medical professionals, a recent study suggests that patients will get better and more likely to survive a life-threatening illness with the help of strong personal relationship.
Based on a recent study, patients who are suffering from life-threatening illnesses are 50per cent more likely to survive as long as they are loved.
The study added that good relationships do not just help fight illnesses but they also help in preventing them.
The new report was released by Relate and think tank NPC after the review of evidence suggesting that should local and national government put relationships at the heart of NHS, they will be providing patients with better chances of surviving any type of illness. In addition, this will lower the health care cost in the country.
