The BBC sports presenter, who called his victory “the most incredible experience of my life”, beat other fourteen contestants including finalists Danny Mac and Louise Redknapp.
In his victory speech, a tearful Oduba said: "I've learned to dance, I've made a best friend, I've been on the show that I loved for 12 years."
He then told his dance partner: "I love you with all of my heart. I'm so speechless. I just want to say thank you."
To which she replied: "You've become a dancer. You're a dancer."
Saturday’s final, which was seen by up to 13.1 viewers, has become the most-watched in the programme’s 12-year history, with an audience share of 53.5per cent. It also marks Len Goodman’s last appearance as a judge.
It was a grand final crammed with top-scoring dances from all three contestants. Both Clifton and Oduba scored the first 40 of the final and topped the leaderboard, followed by two other couples in joint second. The final decision was down to voters at home.
