Two Strictly Come Dancing professionals, James Jordan and Artem Chigvintsev, will not be returning to the show this autumn. While Jordan rejected the offer of a reduced role, Chigvintsev decided to remain in the United States where he is part of Dancing with the Stars.
A BBC spokeswoman was quoted by The Daily Mirror: "James Jordan was offered a role still on the show.
"It wasn't to be partnered with a celebrity, but it was to be involved in specials such as Children in Need, that sort of thing. But he declined that. He was offered a reduced role on the show."
However, Jordan himself took a different stance and tweeted: "WELL TWEEPS
Yes it's true I WILL NOT be returning to 'BURN THE FLOOR'.... Sorry, I mean 'Strictly Come Dancing'
However.................do not believe everything the BBC have written in their statement."
Claudia Winkleman and Tess Daly will fully co-present this year’s series after Sir Bruce Forsyth quit the show last April.
Meanwhile, Anya Garnis will still remain a part of the choreography team but will no longer be one of the main dancers.
Jordan’s wife, Ola, has signed up for another series.
Joanne Clifton will dance together with her brother Kevin, making them the first siblings to participate on the show. Tristan MacManus will also join including Pamela Anderson, Gladys Knight, and Dorothy Hamill.
Executive producer Louise Rainbow, said: "We're delighted that Joanne and Tristan will be joining our fantastic cast of professional dancers this year and look forward to them becoming part of the Strictly family."
"A huge thank you goes out to both Artem and James for being hardworking, dedicated dancers on the show, and we wish them all the very best in their future endeavours."
