UK residents are bracing themselves for another round of flooding as more storms are expected to batter the country in the run up to the weekend.
Forecasters warned that the storms may bring strong winds of up to 100 miles per hour and a month’s worth of rain by Friday. Currently, there are 14 severe flood warnings in place for the south east part of the country with most in Surrey and Berkshire. Somerset is also expecting more floods after struggling against rising waters over the past week.
Meanwhile, there are another 125 flood warnings and 229 flood alerts in place around England and Wales. Snow warnings are also in place in parts of the north and west of the UK.
The Environment Agency said: "Further persistent, and at times heavy rainfall, on Wednesday is likely to lead to a low river and surface water flood risk more widely in parts of south and west England and the south of Wales.
"Impacts are expected to include widespread flooding affecting significant numbers of properties and whole communities and significant disruption to travel."
