Sharon Stone has defended the fashion world - insisting it isn't shallow.
The Hollywood actress recently designed a poncho and travel bag for Italian label Fendi for a charity auction held at the Cannes Film Festival.
But she says allegations that the industry is superficial and bitchy are off the mark.
Stone, 48, insists she was touched by the generosity and charitable behaviour of all the fashion people she was involved with.
She told Britain's Grazia magazine: "The fashion world is not superficial. Fendi were amazing to do what they did. I'm very proud that amidst the beauty and fashion are real people who get up and do things."
The 'Casino' actress also insists she is fully committed to her charity work and doesn't get involved with it to raise her own profile.
She added: "People often assume that because you are a celebrity your life is by definition very glamorous and superficial. I see things that no one has any idea about, but it's a huge part of what drives me."
