After several months of speculation, the cast of Star Wars Episode 7 has been finally announced with original actors Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, and Mark Hamill set to reprise their respective roles of Han Solo, Princess Leia and Luke Skywalker.
New faces joining the cast include Oscar Isaac, Adam Driver, and Daisy Ridley. The news, which will surely excite die-hard fans, was posted on Star Wars' official website.
“We are so excited to finally share the cast of Star Wars: Episode VII,” said director JJ Abrams. “It is both thrilling and surreal to watch the beloved original cast and these brilliant new performers come together to bring this world to life, once again.
“We start shooting in a couple of weeks, and everyone is doing their best to make the fans proud.”
Disney has already said previously that the sequel will be set 30 years after the Return of the Jedi which could mean that Episode 7 could centre around Han and Leia’s children.
The long-awaited sequel will begin shooting next month at Pinewood Studies near London.
