Skater narrowly misses out on a place in the semi-final...

Chemmy Alcott has become the latest star to exit Dancing on Ice. 

The champion ski racer landed in the bottom two next to Chico, after public votes and judges' scores were combined. It was the fourth week Alcott had been in the final two.

After the skate-off, judge Katarina Witt decided to save Alcott, declaring that the decision to eliminate one of them was "very difficult". 

Louie Spence then went on to tie the vote by choosing to save Chico. Head judge Robin Cousins then sided with Witt, deciding to send Alcott home after saying that her opponent still "had that spark" about him. 

As the result was announced Chico fell to his knees in relief and Alcott skated over to hosts Phillip Schofield and Christine Bleakley for her final interview, saying:

"I feel gutted because I love this competition. But everyone's a lovely skater out there and I've just had so much fun."

Alcott dedicated her Dancing on Ice stint to "everyone out there who's overcome adversity", adding that she couldn't have dreamed of competing on the show after breaking her leg in a skiing crash in 2010:

"This time last year I was on crutches, I couldnÂ’t walk and now I've done this."

Chico and fellow-semi finalists Jennifer Ellison, Matthew Wolfenden and Jorgie Porter remain to compete next weekendÂ’s show, which will see each of them take part in a solo skills test.

It was also revealed that the contestant who comes top of the leaderboard will automatically gain a place in the final.

Dancing on Ice continues next Sunday at 7pm on ITV1.
