It seems that former Holby City and Hollyoaks star, Jeremy Edwards has decided that his time in the spotlight is over, after he was pictured in an unexpected new role.

The actor was recently spotted grafting for a friends landscape gardening business; a surprise turn of events for Edwards, who previously enjoyed the celebrity lifestyle.

However, the 40-year-old Celebrity Big Brother star has now spoken out to defend his new role, telling OK! magazine:

"'I really don't see the shame in manual labour. I don't know any actors who work consistently without other work.

"There's a lucky few, but not many, I had a good ten-year run!"

Edwards, who also appeared on Dancing on Ice, has not acted since late last year, when he appeared in a Coronation Street spin-off.

He has previously stressed that he is still going for auditions, saying that he has "come very close to certain jobs".

Edwards also revealed that he had been offered the chance to return to Channel 4 soap Hollyoaks, despite his character being killed off.
