It usually takes some time for the sports calendar to get really exciting in any given year, but fans of American Football love the beginning of February. Sunday 5th of February is Super Bowl Sunday, and the 51st Super Bowl will take place between the New England Patriots and the Atlanta Falcons. This is a day when Americans stop to enjoy their national sport, but gridiron fans around the world will watch the game in bars and from the comfort of their own home. NFL fans in the UK and Europe will stay up late to see the action unfold live.
The Grand National will be watched by millions
One of the biggest sporting events of the year takes place in spring with the Grand National. This horse racing event captures the mood and imagination of the nation, with many people taking an annual interest in horse racing with the Grand National. As usual, the event takes place in Aintree, with the 2017 race taking place on Saturday 8th of April. Some of the leading sports tournaments will come to a climax in June. The European football season will conclude on Saturday 3rd of June in Cardiff with the Champions League final. Another hugely popular annual sporting event is the Tour De France, which welcomes the greatest cyclists and their background teams from all over the world. There is a wide range of cycling tests and activities during the event, which is nearly a month long, and it is one of the most intensive sporting challenges in the world.
