Seminal 1980s pop group Spandau Ballet are set to release their first single in nearly two decades.

'Once More' will be released on 9 November, 20 years to the month that the New Romantics released their debut single 'Crashed Into Love'.

The single will also be a part of an upcoming album of the same name, which sees the band rework their old hits and revamp them for a contemporary sound. It is not yet known when the album will be released.

Singer Tony Hadley told the BBC: "We got back together and the tour dates went on sale, none of us could believe the fantastic reaction we got from fans.

"When the opportunity came to get into a studio and play music together, we couldn't pass it up."

Guitarist Gary Kemp said the band had "gelled" this time around and they were functioning once again as a unit. He said: "The new song was a way for us to show that Spandau Ballet are back, not just to play the hits on tour, but also to take on our contemporaries in the pop charts."

Before a high-profile split in 1990, the band, was one of the most successful of the 1980s with hits such as 'Gold' and 'True'. They reunited in March of this year. In the space between, Martin Kemp made a name for himself as an actor, starring as Steve Owen in EastEnders.

Tickets for their upcoming comeback show at London's O2 Arena sold out in less than 20 minutes.
