Astronauts have celebrated Star Wars Day by screening one of the sci-fi movies aboard the International Space Station. Nasa, using one of its official accounts, tweeted: "Just watching @starwars. In space. No big deal," using the hashtag #Maythe4thBeWithYou.
Based on the photo shared that shows Mace Windu’s battle with Supreme Chancellor Palpatine, the astronauts watched Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith.
Earlier this year, members of a forthcoming expedition to the ISS posted as Jedi Knights for their official photo.
The ISS was previously linked to the space opera in 2007, when the lightsaber of Luke Skywalker was flown to the orbiting structure and back to mark 30 years of franchise.
Disney benefits from the latest publicity as it is set to release the new series of the films, Star Wars: The Force Awakens in December. One expert said that the movie could make up to $500million in its first three days in cinemas.
