Madonna has been slammed by a former friend and dancer - for having bad body odour.

The 'Material Girl' was reportedly so smelly when she was an aspiring young singer who lived in a squat that her clubbing colleagues gave her a wide berth.

Former dancer Janice Dickinson is quoted by America's New York Post newspaper as saying: "In the '80s, before she was famous, I used to go dancing with Madonna at Danceteria.

"She and I would be dancing all night on top of the speakers. Madonna had the most vicious body odour. It was like she had not showered in a week.

"She was a great dancer, but I tried not to get too close to her or I would literally pass out. It was that bad. It was total skank."

Meanwhile, Madonna has caused controversy after swearing on stage at Saturday's (02.07.05) Live 8 concert - which was broadcast to billions of TV viewers.

The 46-year-old singer bellowed: "Are you f**king ready, London?" to a stunned crowd in London's Hyde Park.

British TV broadcaster, the BBC, have now been forced to apologies on her behalf.

A BBC spokesperson said: "Unfortunately it was a live broadcast, passions were running high and many celebrities were emotional.

"We apologise to anyone who was offended."
