Christian Slater is set to become the latest Hollywood star to appear on Broadway.

The handsome actor, who recently starred in London's West End hit, 'One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest', will play the male lead in 'The Glass Menagerie'.

He will replace current star Dallas Roberts as Tom, an unhappy son who feels trapped by his family circumstances in the Tennessee Williams drama.

Although he won rave reviews for his London performance, the show put a strain on his personal life.

The 35-year-old star split from wife Ryan Haddon after friends claimed she couldn't adjust to life in the capital and moved back to the US with the couple's two children.

One said: "Christian loves England but Ryan never really felt at home. They are both very sad."

The star met Haddon in 1998 and they married two years later, after he convinced her he had overcome his drink and drug addictions.

However, Slater was spotted out partying frequently and was linked to string of lapdancers since relocating to London.
