Sir David Jason marks his 50th year in showbiz with an autobiography

50 years after joining the entertainment industry, Sir David Jason, is set to pen his autobiography to share his journey with those people who supported him for half a decade – the great British public.

 

 Random House will publish the book in 2014 in time for the holiday seasons. 

 

Born in 1940, the 72-year-old actor is best known for his roles in TV series such as A Touch of Frost, Only Fools and Horses, and The Darling Buds of May. 

 

He started in 1964 when he was chosen to play Bert Bradshaw in ITV soap Crossroads. He also starred in sitcom Porridge and comedy series Do Not Adjust Your Set with Monty Python members. 

 

In 1981, the big break came for Sir David as he was cast as Derek “Del-Boy” Trotter in the BBC’s Only Fools and Horses which kept him busy from 1981-2003. He also played Detective Inspector Jack Frost for 16 years after moving to ITV. 

 

Sir David said about the book: "Over the past 50 years I have had the fortunate experience of working with some of the finest actors and writers in the world. 

 

"This book will be an opportunity for me to share the journey through my life and career with the people who have been most generous with their support and kindness - the great British public."
