A report published in the Sun on Sunday claims that the footballer David Beckham will soon be addressed with the prefix “Sir” as he is set to receive a knighthood for his contribution in football and for his services in charity over the past two decades.
The report also claims that Prince William is in line to carry out the ceremony.
To say that Beckham is successful is an understatement. During an illustrious playing career, he won 115 caps for England and bagged league titles in four different countries.
Aside from being an accomplished footballer, he is also known for his charity work and for being an ambassador for Britain in the build-up to the 2012 Olympic Games. He recently donated his £3.5million pay packet from Paris Saint-Germain to a children’s charity in the French capital.
If the reports are true, the 38-year-old footballer will be known as Sir David Beckham while his wife Posh will become Lady Victoria.
