Sarah Jessica Parker has landed a role in 'Shrek 3'.

The 'Sex and the City' actress will join a star studded cast, which includes Cameron Diaz, Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy and Antonio Banderas, for the third instalment of the animated series.

Parker - who played Carrie Bradshaw in the hit US sitcom - admits she is thrilled to have secured a role in the movie.

She said: "I am delighted to be doing a role that my children and friends' children will be able to see."

Meanwhile, Parker is set to miss the Golden Globe Awards this Sunday (17.01.05) to go on holiday with husband Matthew Broderick.

The 33-year-old actress has been nominated for best female performance in a comedy or musical for her role in the hugely popular show - which ended last year after six series - but has decided she wants to spend time with her husband and their son, James Wilke, instead.

Her spokesperson told America's New York Daily News newspaper: "She and Matthew are going away on vacation. They only have a week before he goes to work on 'The Producers' and she starts work on 'Hating Her'. Don't you think they deserve it?"
