Could soap spoilers be a thing of the past?...

ITV bosses are considering looking into creating more audience interactivity by allowing them to choose different outcomes to Coronation Street storylines it has been revealed.

Viewers can sign up online, for a fee, in order to change the course of history.

The station is currently looking for ways in which to raise company revenue, whilst keeping the channel free for consumers.

Bosses are currently researching to see if viewers would be prepared to pay fees for this God-like privilege.

It is not the first time that fans of Coronation Street have been offered alternative endings. A few months ago, viewers could go online to see the two endings filmed for Gail PlattÂ’s murder trial in which she was accused of killing her husband.

Whilst the broadcast version showed that she was given a non-guilty verdict, the online version saw Platt sentenced to prison.

ITV’s chief executive Adam Crozier said at the Royal Television Society International Conference yesterday: “We can test and learn from these things. We’ll have to learn as we go along.”

Coronation Street was recently named the longest running soap in history by Guiness World Records, with Bill Roach being given the accolade of longest running soap actor.
