Charlie Sheen has denied his gambling played any part in his split from wife Denise Richards.
The former Hollywood hellraiser, who vowed to quit his wild ways when marrying the former Bond Girl in 2002, is furious with claims Denise left him because he had spent around £100,000 in casinos.
The couple, who have a one-year-old daughter, Sam, say they are "deeply saddened" by the conspiracy theories surrounding their split and have asked to be respected at this "difficult time".
Last week, Sheen was forced to deny reports he had cheated on Denise with a string of prostitutes, saying he would never betray her.
He said: "I did not cheat on my wife. These stories and allegations are unconscionable. The reason for our separation is a private matter between the two of us."
Earlier this month, Denise, who is pregnant with the couple's second child, filed for divorce, citing "irreconcilable differences".
In the papers, Denise requested "miscellaneous jewellery and other personal effects" as well as "earnings and accumulation of petitioner from and after the date of separation".
She is also said to be pushing for full custody of the children, allowing Sheen visiting rights.
