Shaun the Sheep is set for big screen debut as Aardman Animations and StudioCanal teams up to make it possible, it was announced on Thursday. The film will revolve around Shaun leaving his farm for a city-based adventure. Bitzer and the flock will also go into the big city to rescue him.
The movie, which is set to be released on spring 2015, will be financed by StudioCanal and will be distributed in UK, France, Germany, Australia, and New Zealand where Shaun the Sheep has a huge following. The movie will be written and directed by Richard Starzak and Mark Burton. It will be made using stop-motion animation.
David Sproxton, executive chairman and co-founder of Aardman, is excited about the announcement. He said: "Shaun and his friends have a massive global following. "We are very excited about being able to put them into a bigger adventure for the big screen."
Aardman previous features include Chicken Run, Wallace &Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit and The Pirates! In an Adventure with Scientists.
