X Factor judge Sharon Osbourne has recounted the moment her rock star husband tried to kill her.
In a one-off ITV1 documentary, Ozzy Osbourne: In My Life, to be screened on Saturday night, Sharon, 52, describes how the Black Stabbath star attempted to strangle her at their family home while high on drink and drugs.
Sharon dropped charges against Ozzy, who was arrested for making threats to kill following the 1989 event and subsequently went into rehab.
Commenting on the frightening episode, Sharon, who acts as Ozzy's manager, said: "I knew that I couldn't reach him because he was so far gone."
"There was nothing I could have said or done because he wasn't there. It was someone else," she added.
Following Sharon's account of her husband's bizarre behaviour, her fellow X Factor judge Simon Cowell will be relieved at news that Ozzy is no longer holding a grudge against him for joking about his quad bike accident.
Ozzy, 56, had threatened to "put arsenic" in Simon's tea after the acid-tongued music mogul declared that the veteran rocker's December 2003 accident would boost his record sales.
Declaring his forgiveness for sneering Simon, the Daily Mirror quotes Ozzy as saying: "I wouldn't say he's my best friend but I accept him for what he is... the baddie in a pantomime."
